Jardin aux Fleurs – Bloemenhof is the name of the newest Brussels mural! The Brussels comic strip heritage is growing, this time with a new fresco right in the heart of the city. The mural by Brecht Evens was inaugurated on Friday 23rd February with the presence of Brussels mayor Philippe Close, aldermen David Weytsmanen, city officials and many residents of the neighborhood.
The mural is situated on the corner of the Rue du Grand-Serment / Grootsermentstraat and Rue du Char / Wagenstraat, in the city centre.
The mural named ‘Flower garden’ is one of the largest of the 56 murals that form the comic strip trail. It was completed in December 2017 and it took four months to finalize the mural. The colorful design with the typical figures from the work of Brecht Evens surrounds the urban garden over several walls and will hopefully become a highlight of the district.
Cartoonist and illustrator Brecht Evens is 31 years old and was born in Hasselt. He graduated from the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent and also lived in Brussels for a while.
