Festivals

October in Belgium strikes a vibrant chord with a rich variety of music festivals that span genres, venues, and atmospheres. From the intimate showcases of FrancoFaune from 1-10 October and the Musique Femmes Festival, to the solidarity-driven Benefit Concert Love Cath’s against cancer, the month brings both discovery and purpose to the stage.

Electronic beats take flight with Felix Da Housecat at Liège’s Airport on 11 October, while Valencian cultural heritage shines through Festival Estellés on 18 October in Brussel’s VK. For those seeking urban grooves, Urban32 sets the tone at Botanique, and the month closes with the eclectic Les Nuits Weekender also in Botanique, extending the celebration into November.

Musicals

Brussels Music Agenda expands its horizons with the announcement of tick tick…Boom! the Belgian premiere of a musical by The Bridge Theatre, a raw, urgent, and deeply human story by Jonathan Larson, the visionary creator of RENT.

Set in New York in the 1990s, the show tells the story of Jon, a composer on the verge of turning 30, torn between his job as a waiter, writing a musical he hopes will change everything, and the pressures of love, ambition, and life choices. As the clock ticks, Jon must decide: risk it all for his dream or throw in the towel. From 14 October to 2 November in Stassart House, Brussels. Get your tickets here.
