Balkan Trafik!, the Brussels festival of music and culture from southeast Europe, returns from 19 to 21 November 2026 at the Bourse, marking its 20th anniversary after a one-year break. For this edition, the festival reconnects with all the elements that make it so diverse: music, creative expression, dance, fashion, encounters, and gastronomy, and for the first time, takes over the entire Bourse – Beurs venue in Brussels.
On this occasion, Balkan Trafik! will transform this iconic Brussels location into a true indoor festival, with two main stages, a Balkan Village, musical lounges, and meeting spaces, in an experience designed to encompass the entire Bourse. It’s also a first for the venue, which will host a festival for the first time.
True to its mission of building bridges between Belgium and the Balkans, the festival will bring together heritage and emerging scenes from Southeast Europe: Gypsy brass, electronic beats, ancient polyphony, Gypsy punk, Greek hip-hop, Gypsy jazz, and Balkan pop. Slovenian artist ZEVIN will be a leading voice in the new electro scene, while Turkish artist Cem Yıldız will blend electrified saz, hypnotic vocals, and electronic rhythms in a contemporary reinterpretation of Anatolian traditions. The Albanian ensemble Krojet e Velçës will showcase the isopolyphonic labë, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage instrument, and the Bojan Krstić Brass Band will bring the power of Serbian brass to the stage. DJ Shahash Akrimski will close the festival on Saturday night with a set that blends breakbeat, jungle, drum’n’bass, electro, and sounds from Ukraine and Moldova.
Original creations will once again be at the heart of the program. Balkaniada by Clejani will bring together more than fifteen Romanian artists, including Marga, Viorica & Ioniță de la Clejani, Taraful din Clejani, and Florin Salam, a star of the manele (a traditional Provençal drum). Greek rapper Eisvoleas will meet with Greek musicians from Brussels and rebetiko dancers, while Bohemian Betyars and Besh o droM will unite their worlds of folk, punk, and Eastern European traditions. In a different vein, Czech band Terne Čhave blends Roma traditions with funk, rock, soul, ska, and jazz influences. Meanwhile, Moldovan band Lupii lui Calancea creates a dialogue between ancestral musical traditions and rock energy, combining tribal rhythms, powerful riffs, and contemporary sounds. Led by composer and producer Alex Calancea, the group unfolds an intense, spectacular, and deeply rooted Moldovan universe on stage.
The Belgian scene will also be represented with Muriel D’Ailleurs & Jama Orchestra, Belgian-Greek trumpeter Dominic Ntoumos, and Brussels-based DJs Gaetano Fabri and DJ SKANDAL, along with a live brass band, will create a soundscape blending Balkan Beats and Anatolian electro.
Balkan Trafik! will also extend beyond the main stages. Throughout the three days, brass bands, musicians, and artistic interventions will accompany the public’s movement through the various spaces. Croatian artist Eva Balažin will offer temporary tattoos inspired by the sicanje tradition (by reservation). Balkan caterers, wines from Southeast Europe, and Belgian beers will also be part of the experience.
On Saturday afternoon, the Bourse will open its doors free of charge until 6:30 pm with Balkan Agora. For the first time at the festival, a catwalk will bring together Balkan designers, designers from the Belgian diaspora, and traditional costumes. Meetings with activists and civil society actors will address topics such as the environment, gender equality, and social cohesion. Workshops, language and dance introductions, and explorations of various cultural practices will round out the afternoon.
