International Prize: exhibition of the laureates of 2024 at Villa Empain

The Boghossian Foundation presents the works of the 2024 International Prize laureates from 19 June to 17 August 2025 at Villa Empain, Brussels.

Bringing together three distinctive creative worlds, this exhibition celebrates the creativity of Kate Crawford and Vladan Joler, Kim Mupangilaï, and Joy Harvey — this year’s laureates in the fields of Visual arts, Design, and Jewellery. Through their work, each contributes to a greater mutual understanding between cultures.

In the garden of the Villa Empain, the monumental work Calculating Empires by the duo Kate Crawford and Vladan Joler unfolds across 23 metres. This striking installation exposes the invisible structures of power in the age of artificial intelligence, delving into the geopolitics of data and global infrastructures. Through this committed cartography, the artists interrogate the networks of labour, resources and control that shape our connected world.

In the former Secretary of the baron Empain, the creations of Kim Mupangilaï and Joy Harvey explore the dialogue between heritage and innovation. The chair and lamp conceived by Kim Mupangilaï, a Belgian-Congolese designer, merge the aesthetics of Belgian Art Nouveau with Congolese art to sketch out new cultural narratives. Meanwhile, Joy Harvey’s jewellery interlaces Florentine goldsmithing, Armenian craftsmanship, and digital innovation. Through these powerful and sensitive works, the Boghossian Foundation pays tribute to artists who reimagine the world by crossing disciplines and cultural heritages.

The Boghossian Foundation International Prize
Reflecting its mission to bridge East and West through the arts, the Boghossian Foundation organised an International Prize that recognises artists whose work contributes to greater mutual understanding between cultures.

The Prize, endowed with 12,000€, also included an invitation to the artists’ residency and an exhibition at the Villa Empain. In 2024, the jury honoured Kate Crawford and Vladan Joler (Visual Arts), Kim
Mupangilaï (Design and Craft), and Joy Harvey (Jewellery).
