Festivals, concerts and music events in September

We are all back to school, back to work and Brussels is back on track to offer a wide range of music events all over the city to overcome the holiday blues. We assembled a nice selection of interesting concerts, festivals, parties and music events happening in September in the capital and beyond.

Concerts:

Girl In Red (Forest National, Brussels, 05 September). Sing along to hits like ‘Summer Depression’, ‘Serotonin’ and ‘4th of July’ by Norwegian breakthough singer Girl In Red and experience the magic of her melancholic lyrics and catchy melodies. Catch her also live in Amsterdam on 08 September and Cologne on 13 September. More info.

Orchestra Baobab (De Roma, Antwerp, 06 September). The legendary band from Senegal celebrates 50 years of career with a unique show blending Afro-Cuban music and traditional compositions. More info.

KIM (Espace Lumen, Brussels, 7 September). Get ready to experience a complete and exclusive moment for a magnificent acoustic evening to the rhythm of Caribbean zouk. More info. 

Luz Casal (Cirque Royal, Brussels, 13 September). One of the most iconic Spanish vocalists presents her latest album ‘Las Ventanas de Mi Alma’. More info. 

The Pretenders (Cirque Royal, Brussels, 14-15 September). Chrissie Hynde’s band reforms to perform their huge range of hits spanned since the 80s. More info.

Heilung (Lotto Arena, Antwerp, 15 September).  A Heilung concert is so much more than just a performance. It’s a journey, a ritual, a ceremony. Let yourself be carried away to prehistoric times, together with thousands of other fans. Catch them also live in Amsterdam on 21 September. More info.

Ibibio Sound Machine (Botanique, Brussels, 16 September). A kaleidoscopic array of house, funk, afrobeat and disco bangers and ballads, the London band presents their latest album ‘Pull The Rope’. More info. 

Moby (Sportpaleis, Antwerp, 21 September). The US singer and producer celebrates 25 years of his most-acclaimed album ‘Play’. You can also catch him in Paris, London or Düsseldorf. More info.  

Joshua Basset (La Madeleine, Brussels, 25 September). The American multi-talent already has an Emmy Award on his shelf at the age of 23 thanks to his role in ‘High School Musical: The Musical’ and now presents his debut album ‘The Golden Years’. Catch him also live in Amsterdam on 27-28 September. More info. 

Artemas (Trix, Antwerp, 25 September).Author of one of the most viral recent hits, ‘I Like The way you kiss me’, the English-Cypriot singer comes to Belgium to present his latest EP ‘Yustyna’. More info. 

MEUTE (Ancienne Belgique, Brussels, 25-26 September). One explosive blend of hypnotic, driving techno and expressive marching band ensemble from Germany. More info. 

Aurora (Forest National, Brussels, 27 September). The whimsical Norwegian artist presents her new album ‘What Happened To The Heart?’.  You can also catch her in Amsterdam on 28 September. More info. 

Guano Apes (Ancienne Belgique, Brussels, 27 September). The legendary German rock band returns to Brussels with the Free The Monkey tour, claiming analogic music over digital. More info. 

Melanie Martinez (Forest National, Brussels, 29 September). With 3 autobiographical concept albums under her belt, the eclectic singer-songwriter presents the Trilogy Tour. Her concerts are a complete experience, a musical and visual journey through her imagination and personal experiences. Catch her also in Amsterdam on 01 October. More info.

Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes (Cirque Royal, Brussels, 30 September). The legendary founder of the Romani French band with Catalan heritage presents his wide range of rumba, flamenco and pop hits. You can also catch him in Amsterdam in October. More info.  

Festivals: 

Jazz in the Woods (Le Kiosque, Brussels, Wednesdays 04-11-18-25 September). Free jazz concerts in this idyllic space in Bois de la Cambre. More info.  

SMG Music Fest (Sart-Messire-Guillaume, Bravant, 06 September). Post-punk fair with performances by Library Card, Palehound, Traumhaus and more. More info.

Fiesta Latina (Bois de la Cambre, Brussels, 06-08 September). Belgium’s most anticipated Latino festival. Immerse yourself in a tropical and festive atmosphere to celebrate the end of the summer holidays with three days of music, dance and culinary delights. More info. 

Voodoo Village Festival (Grimbergen, Brussels, 7-9 September). 2-day techno and house music festival in the countryside near the Lunden Castle, less than 1 hour away from Brussels. More info.

Les Nuits Indé (B3, Liège, 12-14 September).3 days of free concerts and DJ sets as part of the Fêtes de Wallonie. A quality alternative program, mainly by Belgian and Liège artists. More info. 

Pukema (Puurs, 13-15 September). With performances by OYESONO, Aaron Blommaert, ISE, K3, Absynthe Minded and more. More info. 

Arcafest (Arcadia, Horebeke, 27-28 September).Celebrating 50 years, Arcadia presents a 2-day festival with artists like Avano, Tars, Carlamote and more. More info. 

Music events and parties: 

44 Club Brunch (The Chairman, Brussels, 01 September). Openair party with good food, vibes and DJs mixing electronic and afro sounds. More info. 

Rolly Party (Be Here, Brussels, 07 September). Rollerblades, food and urban music. More info. 

Play Label Open-Air (Circle Park, Brussels, 07 September). Open-air club party with DJ Gene On Earth. More info. 

Disco Brunch (Plein Publiek Rooftop, Antwerp, 14 September). Organised by Disco Dopafou and Barchel, party and brunch from midday to sunset and beyond. More info. 

Salut Les Copines (La Tricoterie, Brussels, 27 September). 100% female DJs party. More info. 

Bruxellons Festival (Karreveld Castle, Brussels, until 28 September). 26th edition of the festival, dedicated to musical theatre. More info.
