Exciting news from the Brussels Expertise Labels – Alongside the awarding of the BEL Prizes, which will recognize the expertise and work of two talents, the label dedicated to promoting exceptional craftmanship in Brussels will also present “A Journey of Expertise”, a temporary exhibition at Autoworld Museum from 15 to 17 December 2023.
The BEL Prizes awards ceremony will see the Brussels Expertise Labels award two prizes to highlight and support exceptional entrepreneurship of today and tomorrow. The two prize categories include the « Brussels Expertise Transmission » which recognizes a young talented safeguarding the future of Brussels expertise, and the « Brussels Insider Expert », honoring a Brussels-based individual or establishment that has contributed to the city’s prominence at regional, national, and international level.
The BEL Prizes also mark the start of « A Journey of Expertise », an exhibition during which visitors can learn more about Brussels savoir-faire and discover an object or series of objects that are representative of the expertise, values, and world of each BEL member. The exhibition, which runs from 15 to 17 December 2023, will take place at Autoworld, a museum in the historic Cinquantenaire building, and showcases the creations of the BEL members in one place. A unique opportunity for visitors to discover Brussels’ savoir-faire, « A Journey of Expertise » promotes the heritage of Brussels, which makes our capital city such an exciting place to live, with landmarks, reputable brands, and lesser-known hidden gems.
This unique exhibition is part of a larger exhibition at Autoworld Brussels, entitled « Porsche Driven by Dreams ». Visitors will be able to discover a superb collection of cars that have not been exhibited before. BEL, Porsche, and Autoworld Brussels are inspired by shared passion for craftsmanship and excellence, which is why they have joined forces for a superb showcase of Belgian expertise in all its splendour.
The temporary exhibition « A Journey of Expertise » will run from 15 until 17 December 2023. Open on Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. (eveningopening), and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more details, visit the Autoworld museum website.
Nominees for the 2023 Brussels Expertise Transmission Prize
In addition to being based in Brussels and possessing specific expertise, the four nominees competing for the BEL Prize “Brussels Expertise Transmission” are required to share common values with the BEL, including an innovative and sustainable vision, a commitment to quality service, and boundless passion.
This year, the selected four candidates are:
GREENOLOGY
A Belgian clean beauty label, developed by Anne-Sophie and Chloé. This label strives to be straightforward, pure, effective, accessible, and sustainable. Formulated without plastic and harmful chemicals, products from this eco-friendly, user-friendly brand promise to care for oneself without harming the planet.
ANALEPSE
Emmanuelle Bénudeau, a neo-artisan and textile designer with a passion for birds and ethical sourcing, who sees textile as an extension of living things. She uses felt and bird feathers to create surfaces and objects for decoration and fashion. Analepse strongly believes in the conservation of know-how, leading her to question traditional practices and envisage new ways of working, both in her business and in her creations.
DERECK DAUBECHIES
An artisan who is fascinated by our life- giving earth and what it has to offer and who decided to take the leap and pursue his passion for excellence. This self- taught ceramic artist uses earth for his unique, poetic, and vibrant pieces, whose artistry and grace are an expression of his passion for beauty.
AHOOGA
A bicycle brand founded by three Brussels-based friends who want to contribute to happier cities by letting urban dwellers discovers the joys of cycling. The company designs compact hybrid pedal-assisted urban bicycles, in addition to selling circular bicycles. The bicycles are designed in Belgium and part of the assembly is done in Brussels.
THE 2023 « BRUSSELS INSIDER EXPERT »
This year again, the BEL has decided to pay tribute to a famous Brussels institution that raises the city’s profile at the regional, national, and international level, as a « Brussels Insider Expert ». The company, which was established in 1900, still uses the same authentic traditional recipes, tools, machines, and production processes since its inception. The 2023 BEL Prizes winners for the Brussels Insider Expert and Brussels Expertise Transmission categories will be revealed on 14 December 2023 during the awards ceremony. The BEL Prizes are organised with the support from the Brussels-Capital Region, the City of Brussels and D’Ieteren Luxury Performance.
