Celebrate Europe Day at the European Parliament!

  • 2 minute read

As every year, European institutions will open their doors in early May to celebrate the Europe Day. This year the event in Brussels takes place on 6th of May – get ready for plenty of activities and animations in the European Parliament and other institutions in the European Quarter!

During this annual celebration, thousands of people are able to visit the European institutions, discover how decisions are made in the heart of the EU capital and learn more what Europe really does for our daily lives. Being in Brussels, we are used to celebrate Europe Day in the vibrant EU District and visiting the European Parliament is always a must. There will be many great activities including exceptional visits, interactive presentations and games for all ages.

What’s on the program?

One of the highlights include seeing the Hemicycle – the place where political debates take place and important decisions are being made. Opening ceremony and debate at the Hemicycle will take place from 10:30 to 12:00. After that, visitors can still discover the Hemicycle by participating in Talks (from 12:30 – 17:30). You will be able to put questions to one of the speakers and follow the debate on the role of the European Parliament and its work ahead of the European elections 2024. Talented musicians from Ukraine will be also performing in the hemicycle throughout the day.

Another activity we love is exploring how Multilingualism works in practice in the European Parliament. The Language Matters interactive space will take you to the world of Parliament’s translators and interpreters – enter one of the translation booths, choose the languages you want to translate to/from and discover how it really looks to work as an interpreter in the EP.

For those who like animations, there will be plenty of fun activities both indoors and outdoors. From kids’ corner Wooden games and Balloon artists Duo to Origami Eco-Art Collaborative mural. Vibrant programme is also envisaged outside of the European Parliament, from Urban Youth Zone to a Living Forest – a magical dance between exotic green trees and the wind, performed by experienced stilt walkers.

Finally, you can immerse yourself in the world of decision making and learn how political groups in the European Parliament work, what are their priorities for the upcoming European elections 2024 and discover how it is to work as an MEP (virtual reality experience). Visitors are also invited to join the together.eu community to discuss today’s most vital issues. This platform enables participants to learn more about the European Parliament and meet & connect with people who share the same enthusiasm for Europe.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to visit with your family or friends and discover how the European Parliament works, meet its political groups, and immerse in this exceptional place of European democracy.

The activities start already at 10:00 with the last entrance at 17:30. See a detailed programme of the Europe Day celebrations here.
