Anyone who is into the Brussels gastronomic scene knows that ‘croquettes aux crevettes’ take a special position on the menus of the finest Brussels restaurants. Shrimp croquettes are one of the specialties of the Belgian cuisine but only recently they started gaining better recognition. One of the efforts to give croquettes even more prominent spot in the capital’s culinary landscape is a competition by visit.brussels organised since 2018.
The goal of this contest is to present the best shrimp croquettes in Brussels and this is already a third successful edition of the competition. The winner of 2022 edition for best shrimp croquettes is the ‘Brasseries Georges’ in Uccle. As explained by the organisers, the winner will be able to use the title of “best shrimp croquette in Brussels” throughout the year. The competition took place at the renowned restaurant “Comme chez soi”** and brought together 19 candidates. Apart from the winning croquettes, top 5 also included “Todt’s café” (2nd), “Chez Léon” (3rd), “L’improbable” (4th) and “Albert” (5th).
This year, the following Brussels gastronomic establishments took part in the competition: “The 1040”, “Albert”, “Au Repos de la montagne”, “Aux Armes de Bruxelles”, “Beaucoup Belge”, “Beaucoup Fish”, “Brasserie des Alexiens”, “Les Brasseries Georges”, “Chez Léon”, “L’Improbable”, “Jardin des Olives”, “Kroket”, “Le Parvis”, “Les Petits Oignons”, “Le Rendez-Vous des Artistes”, “La Taverne du Passage “, “Todt’s Café”, “Le Variétés” and “Le Villance”.
