One of our favourite expos this autumn takes place in Train World museum in Schaerbeek. This exceptional exhibition is dedicated to the epic story of the Orient-Express and its Belgian creator, Georges Nagelmackers. The expo runs from 26 October 2021 until 17 April 2022.
What to expect?
Discover mythical Orient-Express carriages! This major exhibition of the Europalia Trains & Tracks festival, is also presenting decorative works of art and unique documents retracing the adventure of the Orient-Express and the Wagons-Lits company.
The exhibition evokes the imaginations awakened by this legendary train and the dreams it generated, from the most famous like Agatha Christie to the most tenuous, while paying tribute to the craftsmen who helped build its legend.

Orient-Express exhibition is part of the Europalia Trains & Tracks festival. Several railway anniversaries are celebrated during this year, so the entire Europalia festival was devoted the subject of trains and railways. European Commission has declared 2021 as the European Year of Rail. Additionally, 175 years ago, Brussels and Paris became the first capital cities on the European continent to be connected by rail!
EUROPALIA TRAINS & TRACKS presents more than 70 different projects, mostly new creations and residencies, spread across artistic institutions and in various stations and on trains, in Belgium and in neighbouring countries. The festival started on 14 October and will last until 15 May 2022.
Find more info about the Orient-Express expo on the Train World website. The museum showcases the history of the Belgian railways and their permanent collection includes beautiful steam locomotives and other historical collection pieces. It’s a must-see for any train aficionado!
