Wondering how to spend a perfect day or evening in Brussels with your colleagues or friends? Wether you are looking for an opportunity to spend some quality time with your friends & family or an original team-building activity with your colleagues, a visit to the seat of the oldest Belgian guild (which is rarely open to the public) is definitely a unique experience.
Many people do not know the history of the picturesque Marolles district in Brussels and even less had a chance to discover some “hidden” places such as the cellar where the traditional crossbow guild is located with their small museum and a shooting stand.
Imagine starting a guided walk through the streets of Marolles and Sablon, with plenty of time for participants to connect & talk to each other. After this relaxed and inspiring walk the group will visit the seat of the oldest Belgian guild (officially recognised in 1213 by the Duke of Brabant) and which is rarely open to the public.
To this day, the association maintains guild traditions and crossbow shooting practice. Charles V, Count of Egmont, Archduchess Isabella, William the Taciturn and all Belgian Kings were Grand Masters of this “Great Guild of the Sablon”. After a brief historical overview, a member of the guild will hold a shooting demonstration and the guests can then shoot with the crossbow and enjoy wandering around the small museum.
This unique program (2-3 hours) has the goal to get your group back together and re-connect with each other in a different type of Brussels environment. Expect to be welcomed in a unique setting, introduction & drink, initiation to the crossbow shooting, contest (in team or individual). The best shooter will receive a souvenir offered by the President of the Guild.
