Festive atmosphere arrived in the EU district! New lights and coulours have been added on the streets around Schuman area in the so-called quartier Jean Monnet. The decoration was initiated by the ACCJM (Association des Commerçants du Carrefour Jean Monnet) in order to give an extra touch of magic to the neighbourhood.
Light columns are installed in front of participating stores & local businesses together with ten large lollipop lights. This has been done with the support of the Echevinate of Economic Affairs of the City of Brussels. The illuminations contribute to better atmosphere and animation of the streets.

Last Tuesday, at the initiative of the ACCJM, the artists of the TAVU collective began the work of setting flowers in several portions of the sidewalks of Rue Archimède, Rue Stevin, Rue Franklin and Boulevard Charlemagne. Focusing on the “Green Deal”, a topic so important to the European Commission, the artists will contribute with their painted plant motifs on the ground and add the touch of street art in the EU quarter. Hopefully, we will spark the enthusiasm of passers-by and inhabitants of the area, says Nicole Du Jacquière, the president of the ACCJM.
By giving new colors and shapes to the urban space the merchants of Carrefour Jean Monnet want to show that despite their great difficulties at the moment, the more positive post-Covid 19 period is already on the horizon.
