The biggest Portuguese festivity in Brussels, titled the “Best of Portugal” (O Melhor de Portugal) organized by the Portuguese Farmers Confederation (CAP) took place for the 7th time on May 4th & 5th in the Cinquentenaire Parc.
The aim of the initiative is to promote Portugal and its agricultural products. Tens of thousands of people attended the two day event despite cold and (at times) rainy weather. Visitors could enjoy in the gastronomical variety followed by the entertaining and rich cultural programme. Portuguese music was played guaranteeing festive atmosphere paired with the best produce that this country has to offer.
Luís Mira, Secretary General of CAP emphasised that this festival offers a great opportunity for producers to come from Portugal and have exposure to a wide variety of consumers.
Our team really enjoyed the visit and we were happy to see such a diversity – so many Belgians, expats and native Portuguese communities, all mixing together and enjoying in a real gastronomic and cultural experience.
Our favourites were – bolinhos de bacalhao (cod fish croquettes), Madeira wine, olives & olive oil, Ginjinha from the city of Óbidos (liqueur made with ginja berries immersed in alcohol) and of course… pastels de nata.
Photographer Aris Setya captured some of the nice moments for our photo story – it can serve as an inspiration for all those who missed this event to come and visit it next year 🙂
