Summer is not yet over!
We feature below the best rooftop terraces to hit when the sun goes down against the Brussels skyline or even on common gloomy evenings. We love seeing the city from above. In recent years a lot of rooftop terraces popped up in the city – escaping to the roofs will offer you a most welcome respite from the heated asphalt below. In no particular order, here are our favorite spots for the best places to chill with a glass of wine, tasty cocktail, or a pint.
Là-Haut Viage
This little gem in the city centre is as cute as you can imagine. As soon as you pass numerous escalators and enter the lounge area full of green plants hanging from the ceiling, there is a terrace with a magnificent 360 view, where you can enjoy the city hall tower in all its glory. Note that Là-Haut Viage is open during the summer on Thursday evenings – be it rain or sun.
JAM Hotel
The JAM Hotel only opened a year ago,but the rooftop bar with an inviting swimming pool already counts among the best in Brussels. No other view is better with a cocktail in your hand and your camera in the other to capture a beautiful sunset.
Royal Library of Belgium – Mont des Herbs
Hidden away on Mont-des-Arts is the entrance to Royal Library of Belgium, which houses organic garden on its top floor. It looks very retro and in need of refurbishment, but it is a super lovely place to soak up the sun on your lunch break. You can also enjoy a view of Mont des Arts and observe passers who don’t even know that there is a terrace just next to them. If you opt to come on a rainy day you can overlook Brussels city center from the library’s cantine. Note the opening hours.
Beurschouwburg – Out Loud!
If cosy and appealing with spectacular views of the Beurse are what you’re after, then this is the place for you. Climbing up numerous flights of stairs you will reach the rooftop bar slightly panting. More than a bar, Out Loud! also offers open air movie screenings, concerts, and other events.
Musical Instruments Museum (MIM)
Don’t be scared of going into MIM even if you are not visiting the museum. This beautiful art nouveau building is a Brussels institution of sorts and the view from above is simply spectacular.
Hotel NH Collection Brussels Centre
A recent invite took us up to the NH Hotel into their rooftop bar. It’s a cozy spot, where you gaze at unfamiliar view over the city you know. Make sure to enjoy a cocktail on one of their open evenings.
Skybar58
Iconic Rooftop 58 is closed as of this year, but it deserves to be mentioned here. We have hared rumors that once refurbished the building will be home to Brussels administration with beautiful garden on its roof for civil servants and for public to use.
We still have to check them out but some other rooftop terraces not to be missed are Play Label Rooftop Bar, Residence Palace, etc.
Any other rooftop places you recommend? Leave your suggestions in the comments below, we would love to know!
