#ClickRevolution: Watch the trailer for the new documentary film by Brussels-based director Anja Strelec

  • Editorial Team

  • 3 minute read

What happens when a young, educated woman, an independent member of Generation Z who is also an influencer, decides to enter politics? What role do social media play in mobilising voters, especially young ones? Does society take young women seriously? Or is there intolerance and hatred? Can social change be driven through social media? How intense is the pressure of online life? And are young people truly ready to face the system and the challenges of political reality? – These are just some of the questions addressed in the new documentary film by director Anja Strelec, #ClickRevolution.

The film follows the candidacy of a young, educated woman, Nina Skočak, for the Croatian representative in the European Parliament. Dissatisfied with youth policies and their (under)representation in political and social life, she launches her own independent Generation Z list and enters the race for a seat in the European Parliament, where she hopes to advocate for the interests of young people. But Nina is not just an educated young woman — in fact, her education is often overshadowed in the public eye by the fact that she is a fashion enthusiast and an influencer with tens and hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

Can she mobilise them to vote for her? Can she compete with major political players? What really goes on behind the scenes and in the online world where people don’t shy away from hate speech? How is her life changing — both in reality and in the virtual world?

“As soon as I heard that Nina would be running for the European Parliament, I knew that the topic was not only interesting but also of great social importance,” says Anja Strelec, the film’s director. “In a political world still dominated by older men, a young woman decided to fight for her place and to represent the interests of youth, disrupting the established political landscape — which provoked a range of reactions, from support and the awakening of hope among young people for a better future, to belittlement and hatred.”

The film is currently in post-production and is expected to be completed during 2026. Watch the trailer for the documentary #ClickRevolution at the link here.
