3rd edition of Menart Fair in Brussels

  • Editorial Team
  • February 1, 2023
  • 3 minute read

Unique in Europe, Menart Fair (MENA for Middle East, North Africa), an international modern and contemporary art fair dedicated to the art of the Middle East and North Africa, is finally coming to Brussels for its third edition. After the success of its launch in Paris in 2021, confirmed in 2022, the Menart Fair team is pleased to invite you to the Boghossian Foundation – Villa Empain, a key venue in the artistic life of Brussels, from 3 to 5 February 2023.

In the words of Laure d’Hauteville, founder & director of the fair – “The history of modern art in MENA is incredibly rich and unique. Contemporary art in the region is incredibly vibrant and diverse. The commitment of galleries, foundations and collectors from this region of the world has been fundamental in bringing artists to their own countries. Beirut Art Fair, which I created and directed in Beirut (Lebanon) for more than ten years, has been an international pioneer in its field and has contributed to the influence of these artistic scenes. With the Menart Fair, we are setting up a platform for exchange in Europe that is without equal, for this wonderful story to develop and no longer knows borders. Because, beyond being a trade fair, Menart Fair tells a story, that of the art of the MENA countries”

“Belgium has always attracted me by the quality of its collections and its visionary approach. Menart Fair, an emerging fair, is well based in Brussels, especially at the Boghossian Foundation. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover a plethora of artists, many of whom are recognized in their home countries. The event has a human size, gathering more than twenty galleries; collectors will have the time to visit the stands, to talk to the exhibitors, to discover besides the artists, young designers. More than a fair, we are a platform that creates bridges and allows to weave links”, says Joanna Chevalier, artistic director of the fair.

Menart Fair expands to design in Brussels
Menart Fair opens its doors to design in Brussels and demonstrates the legitimacy and creativity of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). In its precious setting – Modern & Contemporary Art – Menart Fair presents quality furniture, installations and objects that embody magic and refinement, eclecticism and audacity.

The MENA countries are renowned for their traditional know-how combined with the contemporary forms of a region rich in multiple influences: here surprising, moving and original creations emerge. This contemporary design, sometimes visionary, reveals its deep roots in experience and time. It is the result of exchanges, of the mix and succession of people and civilisations.

ART FROM MENA: The affirmation of a promising market
An unparalleled fair, Menart Fair presents the best of modern and contemporary creation in this geographically localized scene, including the countries of North Africa, the Levant, the Gulf and Iran. Through the sharp selection of 24 participating galleries from 134 countries, presenting around 146 artists for more than 250 pieces, Menart Fair in Brussels highlights the fertility, singularity and originality of the MENA art scene! Now supported by a number of renowned museums and institutions, this vast region has benefited – geographically and historically – from rich experiences, conducive to artistic creation and thought.
