BANKSY, The Brussels Show at Deodato Art Gallery

  • Julia Zelle

To celebrate the inauguration of their gallery in Brussels, Deodato Art Gallery is organising an expo titled Banksy. The Brussels Show. The exhibition dedicated to the world’s most famous street artist at the moment will be on display from the 25th March to 22nd of May 2021 in Rue Saint-Jean 28, Brussels.

Deodato Art is a company founded in 2010 by the Italian Deodato Salafia and has several locations in Europe. It is specialised in Street and Pop Art and works with highly renowned artists as well as emerging Italian artists. To explore their collection you can visit their e-commerce gallery and browse more than 2,500 works of art, including pieces by Keith Haring, Mr Brainwash and Andy Warhol.

DEODATO ART, banksy flower thrower

The Brussels Show is a collection of the artist’s most representative works. The public will have a chance to see the very rare Flower Thrower triptych, exposed in its original frames for the first time; Toxic Mary and Napalm will also be shown alongside the iconic Love Rat.

If you’ve heard about Banksy before but are not very familiar with the story behind, let me give you some background. The only thing we know for certain about Banksy, is that it’s the art name for a Bristol-based artist (man or woman), or a group of artists. There has been a lot of speculation around Banksy’s real identity, but none of the hypothesis have been confirmed. By hiding the artist, it seems that the thing Banksy really wants us to focus on, is the art itself. Art that is expressed in a multitude of ways, ranging from graffiti to entire theme parks (Dismaland), with the ultimate goal of making us reflect on some aspects of our society.

To avoid what happened at past exhibitions, Deodato Art Gallery made sure that all the artworks are accompanied by the “Pest Control”, the only certificate of authentication recognised by Banksy. If you don’t want to miss out on this exhibition, book an appointment on the gallery’s website, there are not many spots left!
