Streat Fest: More than 9000 people attended the first edition of the street food festival at Tour & Taxis

The first edition of Streat Fest was a real success – the festival dedicated to street food brought together more than 9,000 people at Tour & Taxis! The festival was organised by the Tatou Production team from May 12 to 15 and it also included nearly 120 events (concerts, DJ sets, workshops, cooking classes, artistic and sports initiations) in order to offer an immersive experience that awakened all the senses.

For four days, the Streat Fest brought together a selection of 50 quality chefs and brands who put forward their vision of street food. From savory to sweet, these names in gastronomy have taken up the challenge of offering tastings at affordable prices (between 4 and 6€). Altogether, over 26,000 dishes were sold during the festival.

“The festival allowed us to meet lots of people that we would not necessarily have the opportunity to meet otherwise and to whom we were able to introduce our cuisine. It was also a moment of exchange and sharing with the public, as well as with the other chefs present” rejoices Kevin Perlot, chef of the Vertige restaurant in Brussels. He adds: “It was also an opportunity to think about how to translate our cuisine into street food. It was a big first for us and we are delighted to see that it seemed to please the public. This will allow us to broaden our thinking in our daily kitchen”.

Nine thousand people enjoyed the culinary proposals of Remi Decamp (Kong), Lhamo Svaluto (Mo Mo), Simona El-Harar (Kitchen 151), Arnaud Delvenne (Nono and Belgian participant in the Top Chef show), Anais Gaudemer (Cokoa), Stefan Jacobs (Hors-Champs), Stéphane Chermanne (Chez Chermanne), Ping Ping Wang (Kafei), Joel Rammelsberg (Savage), Nathan Urbanowiez (Sanzaru), Alex Joseph (Alice Restaurant), Logan Depuydt (another Belgian from Top Chef), Ugo Federico and Francesco Cury (Monella) to name just a few.

“Beyond the culinary offer, our desire was to offer a real experience and to make the Streat Fest a festival in its own right” underlines Terry Vermandel, administrator of Tatou Production. In all, 96 culinary or non-culinary workshops, initiations and cooking classes were available for the duration of the festival. These participatory activities (offered free of charge to ticket holders) have been a huge success.

“The success of the Streat Fest demonstrates not only the interest in street food which has won acclaim with chefs and the public, but also the appeal of a complete experience such as ours which combines music, quality culinary proposals at an affordable price, participatory workshops and immersive activities. This combination is the real strength of the Streat Fest”

Every day, the Streat Fest also offered concerts and DJ sets: Jali, Laura Crowe & Him, Estelle Galbé, Témé Tan, Suicide Sue, Twin Toes, The Doug, Gros Coeur, Simon Lesaint and DJ Vega notably rocked the stage of the Streetfest.

A creators’ and producers’ market introduced know-how “made in Belgium” in the same sustainable and reasoned approach as the festival. Visitors were invited to get their hands dirty to create a collaborative fresco, a work of impressive dimensions of 30 m2.

The appointment is already made for the the second edition of the Streat Fest in 2023!
