What’s on in the coming days?

The new season of cultural events returns to the beautiful Citizens’ Garden in the European Quarter. European Parliament’s summer concerts take place daily from Monday to Thursday (at 13h) until the end of June. Concerts will be held in the serene oasis of the Citizens’ Garden, with occasional performances at the Info Hub, due to weather conditions. Be sure to check the latest schedule here.

The Museum of Art & History presents its most ambitious project in 25 years: From 13 to 15 June, enjoy free access to two brand-new museum galleries dedicated to the decorative arts of the 19th century, Belgian Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Explore long-hidden collections in newly redesigned spaces that bring their artistic and historical value to life. Marvel at iconic works by Victor Horta, Henry van de Velde, Paul Hankar, and others. Highlight: The fully restored Winter Garden of the House of Cousin — a true gem of Belgian design!

To continue this journey, visit the expo: All over at Horta Museum. Starting from Art Deco to Modernism (1910-1945), the expo showcases decorative richness of textiles, carpets, wallpapers by Belgian and international artists. Until 2 November.

Now let’s step back to the Renaissance, considered as the most prosperous period of Brussels’ history. The Brussels Renaissance Festival invites everyone to relive the golden age of Charles V with shows and events until 4 July. On 15 June there will be thematic guided tours in Grand-Place’s Musée de la Ville de Bruxelles and the festival will close on 2 and 4 July with the Ommegang procession, with its 1400 costumed participants. Get inspired with our photo story or grab your tickets here.

They may come from different eras and disciplines, but Victor Horta, Henry van de Velde, Paul Delvaux, and Santiago Calatrava share a common passion: trains. Draw Me A Train is an exhibition at Train World museum that celebrates this fascination, showcasing works by these exceptional artists who captured the beauty of rail travel. For the first time ever, the public can also view original drawings by Victor Horta linked to his work on Brussels Central Station. On display until August 2025.

This summer is a perfect time to visit Van Buuren Museum and Gardens which celebrates a double anniversary: 50 years of the Museum and the 100th anniversary of the Art Deco movement. On this occasion, a new exhibition Around Art Deco. Interbellum Sculptures, presents sculptures from the interwar period in the Museum’s magnificent gardens. Until 28 September.

Following its 5-star production of Radiant Vermin last November, The Bridge Theatre, Brussels’ professional English-language theatre, is returning with a new production this June: 855-FOR-TRUTH. This quietly radical new play is asking an unexpected question: what happens when two people who see the world completely differently are forced to really listen to each other?

Cinema lovers, have your popcorn ready for the Brussels International Film Festival from 20 – 28 June at UGC De Brouckère. BRIFF returns with a lineup of powerful visuals and emotions on the big screen. This year’s program features three competitions (International, National & Directors’ Week), retrospectives, and open-air screenings. More info

Before we dive further into the busy agenda, here are a few updates from our bureau. An immersive ART LAB will open on Avenue Louise 375 from 5 June, becoming the setting for a unique artistic experiment: a 400m² fully dedicated to contemporary art in motion and the exploration of living forms of creation.

A pioneer of neuro aesthetics Guillaume Bottazzi has set up his own Maison de Création, located a stone’s throw from Place Brugmann in the Molière district. Set in a Beaux-Arts-style building designed by Paul Picquet, this mansion resembles a Maison de Haute Couture, and is listed as a heritage site. Adding to the growing art appeal of the Belgian capital, it is located near the Horta Museum, the Maison Hannon and the Marcel Broodthaers Foundation, a Brussels district littered with architectural treasures. Interested to visit? Open days are organised a few days a year, with the next dates being 19 – 21 June.
