So, how did February treat you? With the cold getting milder and spring peeping in through young foliage and light pink flowers (of various kinds), March looks quite promising weather-wise. Comic Art and Art Nouveau

The Comic Art museum in Brussels had linked art with Art Nouveau last year celebrating the year of Art Nouveau in 2023. Did you know that the Comic Art museum building was designed by Victor Horta? This exhibition highlights designs by stalwarts like Alphonse Mucha representing Ninth Art.

Leading Ladies in European Films series

On the occasion of International Womens’ Day in March, the House of European History is organising screening of three unique and important films by the leading ladies in European cinema. They are by Czech director Věra Chytilová (1929-2014), Belgian director Chantal Akerman (1950-2015) and French director Céline Sciamma (1978).

Klara Festival

Brussels will be taken over for 15 days by classical and jazz music. The theme this year is ‘Crossroads,’ and it symbolises the multiculturality shared by various nationalities and ethnicities in Brussels. Organised by musician Claron McFadden, various artists will perform these concerts.

TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition in Brussels

Real objects, real stories. Discover the extraordinary story of the Titanic in a new light, by putting yourself in the shoes of the passengers. In the 16,000 square feet exhibition, admire authentic artifacts recovered from the wreck of the Titanic at a depth of almost 10,000 feet, visit the reconstruction of the ship’s rooms and discover poignant accounts of the passengers present at the time of the shipwreck.

IMAGINE! Hundred years of International Surrealism

2024 marks a hundred years of international surrealism and there are so many important events lined up to celebrate this. The Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels is collaborating with Centre Pompidou in Paris for a touring exhibition on surrealistic art. From Dali, Chirico, Pollock, Miro to Belgian surrealists like Khnopff, Spilliaert, Delville and Minne – there are more than 130 works of art to be discovered in this expo.

Biennale of Women in Art – Edition Zero

This Biennale features an exhibition by 25 women artists in Belgium over 13 days. The selection of artists has been made by the science committee and the citizens committee. Titled ‘A Show of Resistance,’ the artworks are by contemporary women artists living and working in Belgium.

The city of Brussels has organised placing around 20 food trucks with cuisines from all around the world throughout the month of March. From crêpes to various coffees, Asian to African food and sea products, these trucks have a lot to offer at different locations around Brussels.

Folon – A Trip to Brussels

2024 marks the ninetieth birth anniversary of legendary Belgian artist, illustrator and sculptor Jean-Michel Folon. In retrospect, the Folon Foundation, along with three museums in Brussels has arranged for exhibitions showcasing Folon’s works. There is also a route following twenty sculptures by Folon from Galleries Royale Saint-Hubert to the Mont des Arts leading to the Sablon square.

Minimes Cantat

A classical concert for everyone and for free, the Minimes Cantat has been happening in Brussels since 1981!
