5 Things to do in Brussels this February

It is officially the month of love but quite a lot of the winter still remains and you can explore the wondrous activities lined up in the cosy comforts of the city. If you are brave enough to embrace the weather, head out for some warm-up cheer in the outdoors. Brussels is one of the cities that has no dearth of events, expositions, and other fun activities for every soul. Let’s find out what February has in store for you. 

LOVE LOVE PEACE PEACE 

Since it is the month of love, take your date for a lunch tour at the House of European History for some of the exceptional and interesting events every Tuesday in February. Discover stories of love from the museum’s eclectic collection, share love phrases in your language on ‘International Mother Language Day,’ and learn more about the history of Ukraine. And if you book the tour for the first Tuesday of this month, you can send a postcard to your friend because it is the day of ‘Send a card to a friend!’

FLAGEY PIANO DAYS

2023 would witness the tenth anniversary of this highly intense event spanning five days that showcase amazing pianists from around the world. From renowned artists to emerging ones from the Queen Elisabeth contest in collaboration with Flagey – they are ready to enthral the audience with their music. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to miss this event – mark the dates!

A CALL TO TRAVEL

There are a few sunny days predicted in the upcoming weeks of this month. Hop on to a sculpture trail outdoors at the Bois de la Cambre (a few steps from Villa Empain) to see and contemplate on six monumental installations that have been kept open to the public. Conceived and organised by the Boghossian Foundation, this is a unique opportunity to discover artists from around the world who have reinvented the landscape.

BRIGHT BRUSSELS

This is easily the event in Brussels that I keep waiting for the entire year. Who doesn’t love some light, cheer and sparkle in this dull winter, post the holiday season! Bright Brussels is back this year with over 20 immersive light installations around the city. Since 2023 celebrates 130 years of the first Art Nouveau building in Brussels, the light festival would have a special focus on this theme and it is going to be interesting for sure!

AFFORDABLE ART FAIR

In its 14th edition this year, the AAF will involve no less than 80 art galleries including Belgian and international ones! The artworks are not priced over 7500€, so that there is something for everyone to choose from. Spain will be the guest country in focus this time with over 30 artists from 6 galleries making an appearance. From choosing an artwork for your home, office or personal collection, it cannot get more affordable than this fair.
