Sterling Books, a popular English-language bookstore in Brussels is about to close. The news was announced on their Facebook page on 2nd January, 2021. The bookshop stated it will be shutting permanently on 7th February.
We’re very sad to bring you the news that the decision has been made to close Sterling.
Announcement on the sterling books facebook page
Although our sales have been strong over the last few months, a difficult year including the spring lockdown and the cancellation of the Antwerp Bookfair has led our owners to make the decision to close our doors. Absent another solution, we’ll be shutting permanently on 7 February.
As a result, we’ll be offering 50% off all our stock from today on. This applies to everything on the shelf, but of course not to customer orders.
Needless to say, we’re enormously saddened by this turn of events. The support of our customers has been incredible, this year more than ever, and we know how much the shop means to so many people. We’d like to thank you for your loyalty and friendship over all these years.
Sterling Books is the largest independent English bookshop in Brussels. Open since 1997, it is located in the heart of the city, offering a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, greetings cards, gifts and DVDs.
The announcement has created a lot of reactions from the community of customers who were sad to see yet another independent cultural spot closing its doors in Brussels.
