Free tap water in Brussels restaurants!

“The choice of a glass of tap water in Belgian Restaurants and cafés is all we are asking for” – this is the message of the activists behind the “Free Tap Water in Belgian Restaurants” group. There are a number of locations in Brussels that joined this campaign – we bring you the map to discover them!

The group is active on social media and uses different channels to spread this idea and share restaurants that have joined the campaign. People in Brussels can consult the google map which was created to showcase all the places in the city which offer free tap water to their customers.

“We want a more sustainable way of drinking water, especially in the summer! There is no need for plastic bottles when Belgian water is great” – this was one of the messages shared with our team.

Users can also download the two free apps of the MAP with all the spots in Belgium that offer free tap water. There are over 730 restaurants and cafes now, including all the MAKISU, EXKi, PULP and Le Pain Quotidien locations as well as hundreds of others like Cipiace, Poki Poké, Dream Food, Café Belga…

The apps can be downloaded here – for Apple users and Play Store for android users. The apps were created by two volunteers – Itay Mayerovits and Martin Bogaert.

Activists also pointed out that there are many places which are happy to simply refill water bottles across Brussels: including the new Pret a Manger in Gare Central, LUSH, Coffee Fellows, Grand Café Munt Punt, VIVAQUA, FoodMaker, Burger King on boulevard Anspach etc. “We want everyone in Brussels to carry a reusable water bottle!” –
