Bright Brussels and Light the Heart of Europe – two events that happened in the same time and made Brussels look brighter than ever.
Bright Brussels, a local festival of light installations welcomed more than 120,000 visitors across 11 sites over the past weekend.
Light the Heart of Europe was a unique Chinese lantern exhibition in Brussels, on the occasion of the 2018 EU-China Tourism Year. The exhibition, that started on February 22, lasted until February 28th throughout the city centre. The beautifully handcrafted Chinese lanterns were directly built in Brussels, by Chinese craftspeople, who especially came from China to Belgium for the occasion.
The lanterns were inspired by both Chinese and Belgian culture and life: the Temple of Heaven of China, the Atomium of Belgium, pandas and swans, Peking Opera, Zodiac signs and many more. Also, Chinese red lanterns decorate the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert in Brussels and can still be seen until 15th March.
