Expo: Fake Barok by Narcisse Tordoir

Today’s photo of the day comes from the Fine Arts Museum in Brussels where artwork “Fake Barok” is on display.

The impressive “Fake Barok” by Narcisse Tordoir is displayed in the Forum of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. The 28 metres long installation, which is as an index of Tordoirs more recent work, questions the prevailing relations between art, politics and reality. The work is designed as a triptych, a form mostly associated with Christian art, and takes a look at current world problems. Through a procession of photographic scenes and references, the world is presented as a frieze of war, migration, poverty, climate change etc. In short, topics which permanently haunt humankind.

Narcisse Tordoir (1952, Mechlin) studied at the Academy of Antwerp. Recent solo exhibitions took place at Museum Plantin Moretus, Antwerp (2015), Museum Het Valkhof, Nijmegen (2015) and M HKA, Antwerp (2014). He is also affiliated with the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam as a counsellor. Tordoir lives and works in Antwerp.

The expo is organized in collaboration with CC Strombeek.

Practical information are available on the website of the Museum of Fine Arts.
