Cirque du Soleil returns to Belgium with Alegría – In A New Light

Cirque du Soleil is back to Belgium with its iconic show Alegría – In A New Light. From 25 July to 24 August in Knokke-Heist (Natiënlaan) and from 11 September to 9 November in Brussels (Brussels Expo), audiences will have the chance to experience the magic and excitement of a fully reimagined version of this Cirque du Soleil masterpiece under the iconic Big Top.

Created by the original team behind Cirque du Soleil’s early successes, Alegría has captured the hearts of millions since its world premiere in April 1994. Named after the Spanish word for joy, elation, and jubilation, this show played a key role in defining Cirque du Soleil’s unique style. One of the most beloved Cirque du Soleil productions, the original tour ran until the end of 2013, reaching more than 14 million spectators across 255 cities in 40 countries. The Grammy-nominated soundtrack album, featuring the iconic title track “Alegría,” remained on the Billboard World Music Chart for 65 consecutive weeks and remains the most purchased and streamed Cirque du Soleil album to date.

To celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, Cirque du Soleil reimagined the original production in 2019 with Alegría – In A New Light. Featuring modern updates while preserving the heart of the original story, this creative redesign aims to inspire today’s audiences. With new direction, musical arrangements, acrobatics, choreography, costumes, makeup, and set design, Alegría – In A New Light offers a rediscovery of the classic while retaining the emotions, melodies, and spirit that made it a worldwide sensation. Brought to life by an international cast of 54 acrobats, clowns, musicians, and singers, this contemporary revival embraces all the wonder, magic, and joy that made the world fall in love with Cirque du Soleil.
