Expo: ‘Future Generation’ at MAD Brussels

MAD Brussels, the center for fashion and design, is dedicated to promoting the vibrant fashion and design sector of Brussels. Its mission is to support, stimulate, and encourage creative initiatives and emerging talents in the European capital. With sustainability, inclusion, and innovation at its core, MAD Brussels is proud to present the FUTURE GENERATION exhibition this year, from September 27th to November 16th.

Opening on September 27th from 10 AM to 6 PM at MAD Brussels (Nieuwe Graanmarkt 10, 1000 Brussels), the exhibition will showcase the new wave of Brussels-based creatives through two key events: the MAD Incubator Show and the MAD Graduation Show. Visitors will discover the work of 14 MAD Graduation Prize winners alongside the projects of 10 MAD residents. 

MAD Graduation Show

MAD Brussels annually awards the MAD Graduation Prize to outstanding graduates from various creative fields in Brussels. The 2024 MAD Graduation Show will feature 14 winners, showcasing their diverse projects in textile design, interior design, industrial product development, and fashion.

The 14 winners of the MAD Graduation Prize 2024 and the participating institutes are:

  • Eléonore Pauwels – Stylisme Mode, Eps Saint Luc
  • Julien Houdremont – Mode Eco Concept, Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer : presents and designed Under The Strauw, genderless costumes inspired by the Carnaval de Binche.
  • Margot Rizzo – Art Du Tissu, Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer
  • Mathilde Chaize – Scenographie, La Cambre
  • Ella Victor Reihi – Interior Design, LUCA School Of Art
  • Valentine Franc – Architecture D’interieur & Design, College of Art Design : presents and created Pavane, a modular LED lamp made of wooden beads and glass.
  • Julie Thorn – Architecture Scenography, Esa Saint Luc
  • Luna Isola Bersanetti – Céramique, La Cambre
  • Clément De Cooman – Design Industriel, La Cambre : presents and developed recyclable shoes using an elastic system for easy disassembly.
  • Candice Houtart – Fashion Design, College of Art Design
  • Minjung Kim – Design Textile, La Cambre : presents Mues, hand-woven covers that personalize mass-produced objects.
  • Heloïse Sixou – Executive Master in Knitting Design, Arba Esa
  • Ines Frankulj – Design Textile, Arba Esa
  • Theodore Loannou – Design Produit Mode, Haute Ecole Francisco Ferrer

MAD Incubator Show

 The MAD Incubator Show highlights ten designers from the MAD incubator, showcasing their innovative projects developed over the past two years. From algae-based textiles to upcycled collections celebrating cultural diversity, these creators present forward-thinking solutions, focusing on material reuse, bio-sourced innovations, cutting-edge technology, and artisanal craftsmanship. Discover the future of conscious fashion and design.

  • Anneleen Bertels: founder of a textile research studio in 2022, uses embroidery to give damaged clothes new life, inspired by the Japanese kintsugi technique.

  • Margot Van den Berghe
  • MIPINTA by Fernando Miro
  • Skin Series by Rosie Broadhead : a textile designer and researcher, launched Skin Series in 2021, offering innovative skincare textiles made from organic materials to promote sustainable fashion. She focuses on healthier alternatives to chemicals in clothing, especially for women.
  • Kartchev by Stefan Kartchev
  • Studio Minimètre by Bérénice de Salvatore & Bastien Chevrier : founders of a design studio specializing in 3D printing with recycled materials. They collaborate with local artisans, such as their project LAYRAMICS, a series of ceramic doorknobs designed using algorithms.
  • Design for Resilience by Vanessa Colignon
