New in Brussels: Franklin reinvents the Belgian waffle

Belgian artisanal ice-cream producer Franklin revealed something new in their Brussels pop-up ice cream bars! Franklin reinvents the Belgian waffle in its own way and unveils its irresistible waffle recipes.

Franklin is definitely a fine ambassador of gourmet innovation in Belgium. At the beginning of July, the brand of frozen creations opened its first two pop-up shops in Brussels. Two Fresh Ice Cream Bars, imagined from scratch, to highlight Franklin’s latest invention. They introduced a completely unique concept, a new machine and ultra-gourmet recipes which have been a great success throughout the summer. This has lead Franklin to keep their shops open until (at least) the end of the year. Staying true to its reputation of a “serial innovator”, the brand has also gone one step further – their shops now feature an unprecedented reinterpretation of the hot waffle.

The local waffle, version 2.0

The latest innovation from the creator of frozen recipes is not lacking in indulgence. After revisiting the traditional ice cream cone, Franklin tackled a Belgian monument: the waffle. To avoid falling into the ordinary, Franklin’s creation is soft, hot and filled with ice cream. A brioche bun, garnished with one of the six Franklin recipes, a little trick in a “waffle” iron specially designed for this occasion and voilà! The result? A roll filled with a tender and melting ice cream, with crispy and warm edges. A technical feat of indulgence, and above all a first in Belgium. And to put its Belgian origins in the spotlight, Franklin has teamed up with Laurent Maes, passionate founder of the bakery-pastry shop that has become a must in Ixelles, Renard Bakery. An additional way to highlight local know-how, craftsmanship and products, as Franklin has always done.

A tasty winter

Passionate about the good and constantly looking for new tasty experiences and with the desire to shake up the small world of ice cream, Franklin intends to make its Fresh Ice Cream Bars essential places for Belgian delicacies. Given the growing success of its innovations, the company is stacking and extending its concept for the winter, remaining open to the public until at least the end of the year. Great opportunity to enjoy the new creations!
