Pierre Marcolini awarded prize for “Best Pastry Chef in the World”

Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini was awarded prize for “Best Pastry Chef in the World” which took place on the virtual stage of the ‘World Pastry Stars 2020’.

This year the virtual awards ceremony was hosted by Iginio Massari, in the studio with Francesco Briglia, Editor in Chief of magazine ‘Italian Gourmet’. Connected via live stream with four corners of the world, the event brought together six of the greatest pastry chefs: Jordi Roca and Albert Adria from Spain, Christophe Michalak and Angelo Musa from France, Antonio Bachour from the United States, and previous winner Best Pastry Chef in Asia 2020 Shoji Natsuko from Japan.

The prize won last year by Maestro Iginio Massari pays tribute to the virtuoso who, internationally, has been able to promote the profession of pastry-chocolate maker, celebrated for his creativity, his products, his commercial and corporate value, as well as for continued commitment to training others and imparting his knowledge to rising stars and chefs of the future.

During the 2020 ceremony, the WPS panel, represented by independent journalists, unanimously elected pastry-chocolate maker Pierre Marcolini as this year’s winner. ’The award is the finest accolade achieved to date and marks 25 years of Maison Pierre Marcolini.

The WPS is the most prestigious international confectionery panel dedicated to pastry professionals and was founded by Iginio Massari with magazine ‘Italian Gourmet’. For the 7th edition with the theme “The Future of Pastry is on the Move”, an innovative and entirely digital format has been set up. This event receives international candidates ‘Pastry Stars’ who have changed the world of pastry through their creative spirit, technique, strong personality and endless passion.
