Finissage of the art exhibit “Spontaneous Hesitation” by Woo Kim

Edificio is proud to invite the public to the closing of the last art exhibit by the South Korean artist Woo Kim : “Spontaneous Hesitation”, a tribute to Bibliothèque Solvay.

Woo Kim, born in Seoul, South Korea in 1982, is a contemporary artist, mainly working on paintings and installations with the theme of “organic relationships”. The artist graduated from one of the high level engineering schools in Korea (KAIST) and France (Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées). Woo Kim puts her foot in art for the first time in 2010 after working for an automobile company for two years. It is in 2013 that she decided to move in Belgium and to study painting at Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts, where she graduated in 2016.

The title of the exhibition, “Spontaneous Hesitation”, is about the fear or excitement that we have when we start in a new environment. It has a significant meaning for Woo Kim, as it is her first solo exhibition in Belgium.
In this exhibition, about twenty paintings, including six “Stone” series realized in 2013 and nine “Spring” series realized in 2020 will be exhibited. The Stone Series is a work on the origin of humanity produced shortly after giving birth to her first child in Rennes, France. The Spring Series is a work created during the confinement period in Belgium, whose original shape comes from the work of -deongeori in Korean – a concept that the artists has established since 2018.
