Kids friendly places and activities in Brussels

What are the kids friendly places in Brussels? We bring you a few suggestions for the cultural and fun activities that families with kids can do in our city.

1. The “Museum of Dinosaurs” which is in fact a Museum of Natural Sciences. They have dedicated activities for children and the visit itself is fascinating with so many amazing sculptures of ancient animals. Some fun things to do are – exploring the Dinosaur Gallery, where you will take on the role of a palaeontologist, then that of a geologist and anthropologist. You’ll get a chance to touch, try, explore and puzzle over real fossils. You can take part in digs, discover fossils or rebuild a skeleton. You can also put together a life-size stegosaurus, make a fossil print or follow dinosaur footprints. You can even organise a “Dinosaur birthday party” in the museum!

2. Children Museum. Le musée des enfants is located in Rue du Bourgmestre in Ixelles. Play, learn, imagine, create – this is the motto of the museum. In this educational environment, you won’t find computers nor video games. Stage settings and scenery, wooden toys, workshops are some examples of the different means the Museum has put in place to help children in the discovery of the world that surrounds them, as well as themselves. Every exhibition aims for a participative and playful approach of its theme in order to stimulate the interaction and dialogue between children and adults. The Museum animators play a crucial role in the dissemination of the educational values that the Children’s Museum wants to highlight.
   
   
3. The Comics Art museum. This museum is located in the heart of Brussels and has been honouring the creators and heroes of the 9th Art for 30 years. The regularly renewed permanent exhibitions and a diversified programme of temporary exhibitions enable visitors to discover the countless aspects of comics art. Tintin and the Smurfs lead the way towards further adventures, an encounter with a world where creativity has no limits. They have special initiation courses for kids (only in FR and NL).
   
   
4. Train World. This is not an ordinary museum. It’s a unique rail experience that will take you on a journey from the very first steam locomotives to high-speed trains! It is a multi-sensory universe that will give you an insight into the world of trains in its many aspects. It is a place where every discovery evokes an emotion. Visitors of all ages climb into machines that transport them to another era. Take a stroll between the locomotives, embark on trains over 100 years old, visit a little railway house and walk over a real railway bridge. You can even experience what it feels like to drive a train!
   
   
5. Mini Europe. Located at the foot of the Atomium, MINI-EUROPE is the only park where you can visit the whole of Europe in a couple of hours. You can stroll amid the typical ambiance of the most beautiful towns of the Old Continent, very amusing and popular attraction!
   
   
6. Planet Kids, located just a little bit outside of Brussels is another place worth of attention. Existing more than 20 years, Planet Kids is an indoor and outdoor playground with a gocart circuit, inflatable castle, electric cars and separate 4-floor indoor Baby Space structure. While the chidren have fun, the parents can get something to eat. Magazines and board games are also available. Various parties can be organised, including: birthdays, family celebrations, clubs, Christmas, room hire, parties, etc.
   
   
7. Experimentarium. This is probably more interesting for older kids (primary school)- activities on offer include workshops on the topics of physics. Definitely a place to visit for lovers of science.

8. Chicago cafe – This is not a museum nor an activity park but it is one of the very lovely places in the city centre and very kids-friendly! They also have good brunch 🙂
