37th Art Brussels

Founded in 1968, Art Brussels is one of the most renowned contemporary art fairs in Europe and a must-see in the international art calendar.

Art Brussels represents a unique opportunity to discover the richness of the artistic and cultural scene of the European capital, and attracts a growing number of collectors, gallerists, curators, art professionals and art lovers from around the world. Every year in April, the fair welcomes around 25,000 visitors. Since 2016, Art Brussels takes place in the emblematic building of Tour & Taxis, in the heart of Brussels. In 2019, Art Brussels has launched a new and diverse INVITED section, supporting emerging galleries or art spaces that are transcending the typical gallery format and that have never before participated in the fair.

FROM DISCOVERY TO REDISCOVERY

Retaining its youthful profile as a discovery fair, Art Brussels brings together each year more than 150 galleries among the most important of the international scene, gathered in three sections:

  • DISCOVERY: the focus is on young, emerging and lesser-known artists with recent works (2016-2019).
  • PRIME : the focus is on established artists from modern to contemporary.
  • REDISCOVERY: dedicated to art from the 20th century, the section presents living or deceased artists that are under-recognised, under-estimated or forgotten.

    * Art Brussels presents a selection of SOLO presentations: each presentation is an individual ambitious project dedicated to the work of one artist, a one man show in the entire stand or in extension of the main stand

ARTISTIC PROJECTS
In addition to the exciting gallery presentations, Art Brussels presents a rich artistic programme. During the fair, you’ll have the opportunity to see:
SCREEN IT: a video project, curated by Pieter Jan Valgaeren, focusing on the impact of our current screen-culture on the arts, on view at Art Brussels in Hôtel de la Poste, a collaboration with the participating galleries and Stadstriennale Hasselt-Genk.

MONUMENTAL SCULPTURES: Eight large scales artworks by renowned artists and emerging talents represented by participating galleries will welcome the visitors outside of the fair entrance, on the Tour & Taxis esplanade.
