Despite the cold, Brussels is transformed into a winter wonderland over the colder months. The famous Christmas market takes over Brussels and the smell of candied nuts, spiced mulled wine and crepes is everywhere. At each turn you’re surprised by more Christmas stalls and decorations.
This year, Finland will be the guest of honor at Winter Wonders, which will open on 30th November. Some 250 Christmas stalls will be located around Sainte-Catherine, Fish Market, Bourse and La Monnaie. As usual, ferris wheel and ice rink will be there.
The Grand-Place will host a 22-metre-high Christmas tree from the Walloon region, and a nativity scene. Sound-and-light shows with the theme of the northern lights will be played nightly.
On weekends, neighborhoods of Square Ambiorix, the Marolles, Neder-Over-Heembeek and Laeken will host winter-pops – pop-up Christmas markets.
