Who wants to live in a polluted city? Brussels has an acute problem with quality of air and citizens are asking for action. You probably already know that air pollution has a major impact on our health and the environment. It is estimated that, every year, 12,000 Belgians die prematurely as a result of poor air quality in Belgium. Our capital, known worldwide for its traffic jams, has also recently been put on notice by the European Commission for its systematic breaches of European air quality standards. In addition, five Brussels citizens have taken the Brussels regional government to court, and the final hearing is taking place on 16 November.
If you too want our politicians to stop negotiating with our health and take concrete and urgent measures, join us on November 16 to support the citizens’ court case and send a clear message: the people of Brussels want to breathe clean air!
JOIN THE GATHERING
Join us at 6pm on 16th of November at Poelaert Square to, take a family photo in front of the courthouse in the presence of the media and send a clear message to our politicians. Since it will be dark, do not hesitate to take with you garlands of light, candles or other flashlights to make this photo shine!
The manifestation is organized by BRUXSELAIR & CLEANAIRBXL.
**You can also still join thousands of citizens and sign the CleanairBXL petition to write directly to Minister President Vervoort on air quality. More info can be found on www.facebook/cleanairbxl. **
