Berlin Lab in Brussels – 25th anniversary of sister cities

Did you you know that Brussels and Berlin are sister cities? In 2017, Berlin and Brussels are celebrating their 25th year city anniversary. The festivities are the perfect occasion to show the many facets of the German capital and to encourage a dialogue with Brussels. Berlin Lab is therefore opening a discourse between sister cities with the hashtag #FreiheitBerlinBXL for two days at Halles Saint-Géry.

Everybody is invited to join in the celebration in the heart of Brussels. In the evenings, BeBerlin invites people in Brussels to taste Berlin with a special Berlin-Menu and to enjoy fine food by the Berlin Masterchef Thomas Kammeier, who is also the innovative food director of the EUREF-Campus in Berlin. The EUREF-Campus is co-hosting the Berlin Lab and is an urban quarter and home base for companies working in the fields of energy, sustainability, and mobility.

Visitors can enjoy one-of-a-kind ice cream popsicles created by the food artist Science Kitchen or learn more about seaweed in a workshop by the startup Mint. Berlin Lab is also bringing the teledisco, the smallest disco in the world, to Brussels. In addition, a photo exhibition will showcase the current and most ambitious Berlin chefs and players of the Berlin food scene, an exciting insight and preview into the Gastro.Startup.Berlin book project from the publisher Frédéric Schumacher.

On the September 5, 6 p.m., Berlin mayor Michael Müller will give a speech on freedom followed by a Berlin Lab farewell party with music by DJs Joie Iacono und Andy Butler and an amazing show by the Berlin light artist “LiCHTPiRATEN” (Sept. 5, 9 p.m.).
