On Thursday 20th of July, the traditional ‘Bal National’ took place on the Place du Jeu de Balle, in the heart of the Marolles district. The whole idea took off some 15 years ago on the eve of the National Holiday and since then it has grown into a very popular event which is not only loved by locals but also for the new Brusseleirs/Belgians and their expat friends.
Lots of fun, local music, great festive atmosphere and the whole squre full of people dancing together. In other words, there’s everything you need to ‘taste’ the authentic Brussels (including the local humour known as ‘Zwanze’). Here are some photos that Instagram users shared from this event.
Many songs are chanted by entire public and we especially loved when crowds start singing together in this rhythm: Chef, un p’tit verre, on a soif… Une petite bière, on a soif! 🙂
