  • Editorial Team

  • 2 minute read

European institutions are opening their doors on Saturday 7 May, marking the first Europe Day with visitors since 2019! This annual celebration of Europe in May enables thousands of people to visit the European institutions, discover how decisions are made in the heart of the EU capital and what Europe really means for our daily lives. Europe Day celebrates Europe’s achievements and unity, and marks the signing of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950. This year, the event in Brussels takes place on 7 May in addition to a wide range of online and on-site activities across the EU Member States, as well as in Strasbourg on 15 May.

Europe Day 2022 program brings some novelties and includes a varied program in & around the European Parliament in Brussels. Taking into account the current situation on the continent, an important part of the program will be dedicated to Ukraine and to other pressing European issues. Special emphasis will also be given to the topic of Youth (2022 is European Year of Youth) as well as to the ongoing Conference on the Future of Europe.

As always, visitors will also be able to learn about the daily life of this institution, join debates, participate in virtual reality simulations (Be an MEP for a day), animations and fun activities for families & children. Expect mobile jugglers, face painting workshops for children, paper hat workshop, the rollerskates performance, large scale construction workshop with wooden blocks, white peacock parade on stilts, drums marching bands and so much more.
